and Curio Cabinets
These beautiful twin maple cabinets with the black on black
finishes are well suited for this beautiful Old City
Philadelphia home. The customer supplied the designs and
knew exactly what she wanted when customizing the over
wine cooler cabinet with magnetic door contact on and off
switch for the interior lighting. The right-hand picture
shows its matching the beautiful cabinet with lower storage,
1 1/2'' solid maple wood tabletop, beautiful clear 1/4'' inset
door glass and of course 1/2'' glass shelving with bullnose
edging. The cabinet also is treated with high hat lighting
that will illuminate the entire interior of the cabinet. The
door handles are exquisite arch design and made of highly
polished stainless steel which complements these elegant
bookcases entirely.
These beautiful free-standing book shelving cases were
designed by a customer in the Philadelphia Rittenhouse
Square area. The customer wanted to mimic the design of
her existing bookcase but now she wanted a twin bookcase
on a larger scale using a different species of wood. I made
some hardwood samples and she selected the Sapele
hardwood which has a beautiful deep dark wood grain that
she absolutely fell in love with. I built the bookcases
according to her design and finished them with an Amber
wood stain dye that deeply penetrated the wood exposing
the Sapele vibrant wood grains. The customer was thrilled
over the top and immediately started utilizing the bookcase
shelving with her very cherished books.
Size of each book shelving cases 37’’x84’’x11’’
This grand 20 foot wide by 54 inch high three piece free
standing book shelving was built according to the customer
exact specification. The ash wood of this book shelving was
treated with a gray stain which gave it it's beautiful pale
green look and just what the customer desired. The
customer was very specific that the top of the book shelving
would be treated with vertical fluting and rosettes that
mirrors her childhood bedrooms furnishings. This beautiful
three piece design comes equipped with adjustable shelving
and a finish tabletop.
The wall end of this oak bookcase was secured and attached
to the wall studs with eight hidden screws. The bottom of
the book shelving was attached with twelve heavy screws
driven at 45° angle into the flooring and anchoring it
securely. After the bottom of the book shelving case was
secured to the flooring, an 4 inch oak base molding was
applied hiding all of the fastening screws while acting as a
beautiful decorative book shelving trim. The book shelving
case was built with non-adjustable three-quarter inch solid
plank shelving and by doing so adds integrity and strength to
this semi-freestanding bookcase. This bookcase also
includes a beautiful oak solid wood three-quarter inch
backing which is mechanically fastened for extra strength to
the shelving and vertical supports and is equally attractive
from either side.
I want to include these three independent standalone
against wall bookcases that were designed and built for an
elderly couple in Jenkintown, PA. They are retired
professionals who have traveled the world and they have
many books that they wanted to place on beautiful book
shelving. These book shelvings are made from solid Maple
veneer core and finished with three coats of extra white
furniture quality paint. They include adjustable shelving, all
sides finished, step-revealed fronts with grooved
intersections and of course, 3/4'' beautiful glossy tabletops.
They were also custom sized for specific walls in their condo.
Projects like these stand- against-wall bookcases that are
cheaper in price because they are not built-ins, just put in
place.

These twin red oak record album shelving cases were
designed and built for Penn Valley customers. The 3/4''
shelving and center support posts are grooved to prevent
the shelving from dropping. The beautiful red oak wood was
treated with a semi dark mocha wood stain with clear
protective clear coat finishes. The open faced styling for
these cases is exactly what the customer was after to display
his many vintage record albums. The construction of these
free standing shelving record cases is of solid lumber core
3/4'' with a rugged 1/2'' backing panel. They were installed in
a small second floor room where ceiling height is tight, but
we managed to create five tiers of 13'' x 13'' shelving for each
record case. Included is a tabletop that adds extra shelving
for whatever the customer may desire. They were fastened
to the wall studs with heavy screws to prevent any tipping.
Needless to say, the customer is thrilled over the top and has
already commenced the storage of his priceless vintage
record albums on such beautiful, well designed shelving
cases.
Something simple!! The customer wanted a free standing
shelving cherry wood pedestal for her statue that she just
recently purchased. She wanted an attractive cherry wood
grain, so I then put this together using a mahogany wood
stain and finishing it with a multiple clear coat finish. It was
exactly what she wanted to display her beautiful piece of art
work for her contemporary living room.
